Wildfire Community Preparedness Day
Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is a national campaign that encourages homeowners and residents to take actions that increase their home, neighbourhood and community’s resilience to wildfire. It is observed annually on the first Saturday in May.
In 2025, it will take place on Saturday, 3 May. On that day, Peaks' residents of all ages are encouraged to drop by the Peaks of Grassi Park (825 Lawrence Grassi Ridge) between 11am and 3pm. There you can:
Get information on actions you can take to FireSmart your home and on plans for the first annual “Clean the Peaks Day” on Saturday 7 June.
Join a Firesmart home assessment demonstration (at 1130am and 130pm) with local wildfire expert, Stew Walkinshaw, for practical tips on things you can do to mitigate wildfire risk around your home.
Sign-up for help with FireSmarting your home on Clean the Peaks Day on Saturday 7 June.
Sign-up to volunteer to help out on Clean the Peaks Day.
Have a burger and a drink and hang out with other Peaks residents and Canmore Fire-Rescue.
We'll also have a face painting and colouring station for kids.
The first five people to sign-up for help with FireSmarting their homes on Clean the Peaks Day and the first five people to sign-up to help out on Clean the Peaks Day will receive a FireSmart Alberta tote bag!
