Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is a national campaign that encourages homeowners and residents to take actions that increase their home, neighbourhood and community’s resilience to wildfire. It is observed annually on the first Saturday in May. 

In 2026, it will take place on Saturday, 2 May. On that day, Peaks' residents of all ages are encouraged to drop by the Peaks of Grassi Park (825 Lawrence Grassi Ridge) between 1030am and 1pm. There you can:

• Get information on actions you can take to FireSmart your home and on plans for the second annual “Clean the Peaks Day” on Saturday 6 June.

• Have all your FireSmart questions answered by members of FireSmartPeaks and the Town of Canmore's new Regional FireSmart Coordinator.

• Sign-up for help with FireSmarting your home on Clean the Peaks Day on Saturday 6 June.

• Sign-up to volunteer to help out on Clean the Peaks Day.

• Have a burger and a drink and hang out with other Peaks residents and Canmore Fire-Rescue.

We'll also have a face painting and colouring station for kids.
